October 8, 2021: A Date to Remember
October 8th was and is going to always be a memorable date for me as it is the date that I almost died. Please keep in mind that this is my memory recall and I do not remember a lot of what happened. I honestly thought it was just a kidney stone but it was that and so much more. For a week or 2 before I had been having kidney pain just as I had in the past when I was passing a kidney store so I did exactly the thing that I was told in the past…drink lots and lots of water. So I did and I did get some relief but then the pain was back. Things started getting bad on October 6th… but, because of COVID I was hesitant to go to the hospital. So, we did the next best thing and on October 7th made an appointment with the doctor for October 8th. On October 7th things just kept getting worse…I just wanted to sleep and could not stay awake plus I started throwing up in the late evening and couldn’t eat although I was still drinking a ton of water. My Mom finally convinced me to go to the hospital…I said first thing in the morning because I was so tired. So, around 6 o’clock the morning of October 8 my Mom woke me up or at least tried to…she had a hard time waking me and when I did wake I kept falling back asleep. I took what I thought was a quick shower thinking it would help to wake me up but it was long because I couldn’t focus and kept trying to fall back asleep while in the shower. Then getting dressed was the same way. Somehow I managed to get the dogs all settled in their spots and made sure they had food & water as well as a potty pad as I wasn’t sure how long we would be or if I would even be coming home. I honestly believe it was my dogs that kept me functioning at this point. My Mom said she’d meet me in the car and I said I would be right behind her. Well, I was sorta…I started to fall back asleep…all I wanted to do was to just go to sleep but I fought it the best I could and finally left the house. I hobbled like I was drunk down the ramp to the car. I got in the car and started to go to sleep…she tried to keep me awake but I just wanted to sleep. She knew she needed me to stay awake. We finally made it to the hospital.
I am going to stop here for now…I am exhausted and need to stop and rest.
